German Steel: Tamiya Jagdtiger

Good evening all,

I've been primarily a figure painter, so this is my first real go at a tank. It's the first time I've really ever used an airbrush as well. I'm in the process of working on a tank for a contest. Any feedback on this journey would be much appreciated!

Here's a progression of where I'm at so far...

I'm not done with the highlights yet; that'll come tomorrow. Still getting used to fading and modulation techniques though.

All the best,

Jake

Very impressive for a first go around, what amazes me is that you are doing color modulation on a first go around, something I havent even tried yet. Looking forward to seeing more,

Thanks! I'm out to try new things. I figure the sooner I throw myself into it, the faster I get the grasp of it.

Color modulation complete; just need to add weathering and details and finish off with a clear coat of clear yellow followed by chipping and mud effects.

Thanks! I appreciate the kind words. I spent the evening working on chipping effects and only got through ONE side of the beast. I'll try to finish up more tonight and post pics before I do more pin-washing and some additional filters. Then it's onto details and accessories and I should be in the home stretch.

It's currently a little too yellow for my taste, but I'm sure it'll tone down with the slew of washes and such.

All the best,

Jake

Well more you shall get!

Finished modulation, added some filters and did some chipping effects. I'll be doing detail work, pin-washes, rust/grime effects next.

I'm hoping to have this done by the end of the weekend!

All the best,

Jake
