German Steel: Tamiya Jagdtiger
1 Attachment(s)
Good evening all,
I've been primarily a figure painter, so this is my first real go at a tank. It's the first time I've really ever used an airbrush as well. I'm in the process of working on a tank for a contest. Any feedback on this journey would be much appreciated! Here's a progression of where I'm at so far... http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...JTPicture1.jpg http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...JTPicture2.jpg http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...JTPicture3.jpg I'm not done with the highlights yet; that'll come tomorrow. Still getting used to fading and modulation techniques though. All the best, Jake |
Very nice start.
Good Luck with the contest. Thank you. AWD |
Tamiya Jagdtiger
Very impressive for a first go around, what amazes me is that you are doing color modulation on a first go around, something I havent even tried yet. Looking forward to seeing more,

Color modulation complete; just need to add weathering and details and finish off with a clear coat of clear yellow followed by chipping and mud effects. http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...JTPicture4.jpg All the best, Jake |

Beautiful modulation of tones on the hull . . .figure painter my ****! I'm lovin it Hope you do well in the comp Nick |
Thanks! I appreciate the kind words. I spent the evening working on chipping effects and only got through ONE side of the beast. I'll try to finish up more tonight and post pics before I do more pin-washing and some additional filters. Then it's onto details and accessories and I should be in the home stretch.
It's currently a little too yellow for my taste, but I'm sure it'll tone down with the slew of washes and such. All the best, Jake |
Jake, your JP is looking really nice.:thumb: Looking forward to more.

Well more you shall get!
Finished modulation, added some filters and did some chipping effects. I'll be doing detail work, pin-washes, rust/grime effects next. http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...JTPicture5.jpg I'm hoping to have this done by the end of the weekend! All the best, Jake |
