Hi guys
Couple of weeks ago I started to build a shorttracked Pz IV/70 from Alkett. The build is based on a series of photographs showing a very interesting abandoned Zwischenloesung.
I have found several different pictures of this beauty, here they are:
(Photos for discussion)
The interesting thigs about this carcass are nashorn/hummel style towing hooks added to the bow, shortened tracks, final drive covers missing and the last thing that is pretty evident is the gun and mantlet in camouflage while the rest of the vehicle is probably in dunkelgelb (or worn winter camouflage?). The text in Panzerwrecks 1 says that this Panzer has the Vorsatz P mounting on the loaders hatch but I'm going to ommit this detail.
The fourth photo is very interesting and makes me realise what for the extra bow hooks could be - to enable a Bergepanther to tow this vehicle.
This is what I've done so far:
The sets used to build this model are so far tamiya's Pz IV J hull, dml's superstructure, friulmodel tracks, armorscale gun barrel with mantlet, aber mudguards and a lot of scratch. The exhausts are made of brass tube. The final drive housing were canibalized from Pz IV E (the very same I posted recently). Still a lot to be done there, but I'm enjoying this project.
