Here is a Dragon 251 ausf C, with minimal use of PE (just the MG shield, the tools clasps and some minor details)
These pictures were taken just when the model was almost finished, still had to do at that time some weathering on the tracks, some chipping on the jerrycans holders, paint the antenna and some retouching here and there...
During the construction had two problems - or, at least, annoying problems to me:
The rear of the SPW didn't fit correctly with the upper hull and the two sides: there was a gap of a couple of millimeters; I had to cut it and fill the gap at the bottom with putty. I can recommend only to dry check accurately and often, during the initial phases of the work, the fitting of the four pieces forming the hull (the two lower sides, the upper part and the lower rear end)before starting using the glue: for obtaining a good fit it is also important to center correctly the floor which is one of the earlier pieces to be glued.
The tracks didn't fit under the fenders: I had to put spacers in the rearmost wheels for moving them a little bit from the hullsides and gaining some more room to slip the tracks on, and they still touch the underside of the fenders.
Due to this problems the two front wheels are not correctly aligned...I had to work a lot on the two "idle" wheels so it is more than probable that they are not aligned, but the weight of the kit make it sit even on the rear end, so the result is that it is not aligned in the front..!!
Next post I will show the little diorama I'm working on for solving the misaligned wheels..
Thanks for looking!
