Well, time to subject you guys to another one of my displays.
This time its the old Tamiya MK4D that I've had sitting in the cupboard staring at me! I finally decided to do it and just as I finished, the new Tristar stuff comes out and then the DML beast. Different marks but I could have modified them to produce a better model. Oh well, wouldn't be the first time.
I really enjoyed this one adding DML track and Tamiya late wheels. I modelled it as a late D with the extra Armour. I "butchered" an Italeiri G for the underside mouldings for the suspension and grafted them on as well as filling all the battery operated holes on the bottom plate.I also used Kasten wingnuts and some scratch enhancing to the drivers vision slot [under the frontal Armour].Enhanced all the welds with a pyrograuve. All the Tools were replaced with the more recent Tamiya extras set. Other details were added such as photo etch 'square things' on the top rear guards under the engine vents. The piece of straight molding next to each visor on the turret sides. Chains and pretty much any bolt , hook or strap etc that was not on the kit.

This one was taken about half way through modifying. I only had a wicked family snapper at this stage with no macro. Same with the next two shots except they were taken at the final stage before paint.

I set out to model this tank in Mud and that was the real purpose. I liked the challenge of the effect with the ground work and marched on into the unknown!
I was very happy at the end of the project after having spent 3 weeks on the mud effect alone! I used the Frozen Battleground Moscow set from DML and would recomend them especially for their 3d molded great coats.

I constructed the old fence from bass wood strips and painted it with greys to simulate weathered wood. I also added holes as well as the odd nail.
Signs are from VP.
