Working on another T55 -this time, a Northern Alliance T55AM - a gift from the Sovs towards TWAT (the war against terror) The NA seem to have either brand new T55s or crapped out left over T55s, there doesnt seem to be a lot of middle ground there.
ANyway, its the Tamiya kit, I dumped it on its guts, mashed the suspension down about 1.5mm, added T72 track from Friul. The interior is CMK's resin and etch set, which isnt too bad at all, certainly it provides all the main structures, one could go nuts out on a full and complete interior from here.. if one could be assed.
The Mantlet is Migs, well its mine, i bought it, but its a mig item. The barrel is an eduard one. The co-ax is from Modelpoint. The rubberised skirts are evergreen card.. ive made em nice and straight, with a view to bashing them up totally - its easier to make em neat then wreck em, than to make em wrecked then neaten them. Im gonna have it crewed by an Afghan crew, with maybe 1 or 2 'advisors'.
Here's an example of a Northern Alliance tank - this one is actually a T54AM - note the early barrel with no fume extractor.. also note the generally poor appearance of the vehicle:
Im at that shitty CBF stage now, I need to get my hands on a Waldron P&D subminiature set and punch out about 1000 bolts/rivets for those skirts, oh and plumb the fuel cells.. urgh.
