Hey Guys,
hereīs my latest kit, built for a contest on a german Forum.
As I messed up the requirements for the contest, I can now show it here.
Itīs the DML Premium Edition of DMLīs Sd.Kfz. 250/1 neue Art.
As I have this kit twice (you might remember the build I started a while back) I decided to build this kit to see how the base kit actually goes together.
Well it could be a nice kit if DML had included the gear box and the equipment for the /1 instead of parts for the /5 which means you have to look for a gear box (mine came from an older build) and the equipment on the side walls.
Stuff I used was:
Leftover PE from ABER,
Gear Box from an old kit,
Decals from Bison,
Instrument faces and placards on the inside from Archer,
Decal on the fire extinguisher from Peddinghaus,
Headlight and convoy light from Tasca,
scratched stow box on the inside from brass,
Weld beads on the backside from Archer,
Headphones from Royal Model,
Antenna from Modellbauwelt Bliestal,
some minor scratched things,
some equipment to actually make an /1 from various sources.
The figure comes from Alpine with an Hornet head (I didnīt want to use the same heads everyone uses) and was painted with Vallejo for the uniform and Humbrol for the skin tones.
As this was my first try with Humbrol before the Figure on the "Luchs" Iīm not too pleased with him. He lacks contrasts and is too pale.
Anyway, the halftrack itself was painted with Tamiya, weathering was done using Oils, Humbrol, Vallejo Acrylics and Migments.
I really donīt like this build at all. There are numerous spots that still need some work (Exhaust, Ammo on the MG and so on) and the finish didnīt turn out as I would have liked, but I still think itīs good to show it here to hear some more comments what you think could need some more work.
It depicts a 250 of the 12.SS-Pz.Div. "Hitlerjugend" in Normandy 1944.
Enough boring text, here are the pics:
Comments and critics, as usual, more than welcome!
