Another project ive been working on for a while is a flamm conversion for Tamiyas' Char. Ive sort of dilly-dallied on it for ages, until I saw on Blast's website that theyre soon to release a conversion of their own. Not wanting to have another stalled project on my hands, I thought i'd push on.
This isnt going to be one of my regular s-b-s threads, I just wanted to post some shots of what im working on now. Ill update it from time to time, but dont want to do a blow by blow thread like my 234/4 or Marder II.
Obviously there isnt much to say about the Tamiya Char, its fast becoming one of my all time faves. Andrew Hall is working on a 'stock' gun vehicle over on his vBench, its well worth a look if you havent seen it already:

Ive followed Andrews' lead on quite a few of my mods - cheers Andrew for your support!! Cheers also Andrew for your continued support with the Flamm side of things, yours and Jons' help has been invaluable.
So, most of the kit was built stock, i chopped a little, removed some rivets from the front plate, and the rear where the fuel cell will go, then started scratching, using evergreen, a new front plate, including the new flamm projector and the armored visor thingy
Then I banged together the fuel cell - used a Mk 1 eyeball to get the look right, there is no existing example to measure
At this stage I gave the mods a coat of Tamiya spray primer, and then set about adding some more details, the actual visor - cobbled from a DML Panzer III, and various other bits. The resin goodies are from Blast's German Char update. (thanks Ray)
Here's what the rear hull looks like with everything removed, you can see the rebates removed from the rear of the fenders, this was done on the real thing to make room for the tank brackets
And it was at this stage when I spied MR's Char Flamm conversion, I bought it, and its very nice (everything pretty much matches the dimensions of my mods, either we are both right, or both wrong!)
So, not much more to show, at present anyway.
The full build article, as well as lots of historical stuff too, will appear in a future issue of AFV Modeller!
