Hey Guys,
here´s my latest build.
I was asked to build this StuG by a very good friend of mine for his website
StuG.
He also helped me out with some refferences and some material.
I used:
StuG III Ausf. A - DML
Fenders - ABER
PE-Parts - ABER
Tracks - Friul
some Tamiya tools
some scratchbuilt details
Well, the DML kit is actually one of their better StuG-kits.
The details are pretty much correct and the early road wheels are miles ahead of the later ones.
As the side armor on the kasematte was screwed, I had to add these.
My problem was that I didn´t knew that ABER has a set with etched screws, so I made them myself. I drilled a hole and inserted some stretched sprues which, after sanding, gave the appearance of screws. Well, they could look better, but I think they look OK.
Another thing DML could have done is the early periscope. I scratchbuilt one because I have never seen it on any other built StuG kit.
The tracks in the kit are very good and even have hollowed out guide horns, but I just love Friuls, so I took these

.
I was a bit worried about using the whole etched fender set, so I just sanded the kit parts back and added the top parts. This was necessary because the really early StuG III Ausf. A didn´t have the Notek lights (the base is molded on the kit´s fenders).
To make a long story short, here are the pics.
