Dana - Panzershop 152mm ShKHvz.77

Happy New Year guys.

I have started on my next (very daunting) project.. the Panzershop Resin DANA kit. I really like modern SP guns and this one is a corker. This is the original DANA release as I see they have released an updated version.. and I can well understand why, as all the items pointed out as updated are indeed the weakest links in this kit, such as the chassis and cab. Still it is the only game in town and once construction is well underway it really looks the business.

Anyway.
So I would like to turn this..

Into This..

using all this..

They have also provided the Fruil 12.7mm DSK MG which is excellent, a ModelPoint Antenna mount plus rod, wire, a heap of brass etchings and almost everything else you would need, including an excellent metal barrel all in the kit boxing.
I have done a couple of full resin kits before but nothing of this magnitude. I love the subject but some of the casting is...... well as the website says.. "Model for Experienced Modellers".. Let us see if we fit in that category then!

There is a lot of clean up on all the resin bits as expected and some of the fit is.. lets say.. agricultural... but nonetheless it does all go together once you spend time to sort out which bit is which.

If I have a real beef it is with the instructions. The instructions are provided on a CD, while providing excellent step by step it means you must have a PC with in close proximity of your workspace.. not necessarily a good or convenient thing !
Anyway here is where we are at.

Overall View

Rear Mounted Engine

Here I replaced the kit elevation jacks with plastic tube.. it just looks better.

Chassis and transmission

Detailed engine and engine housing

View from the above

The Cab
Obviously more to come, like a squillion grab handles, but so far, I have to say it looks a pretty darn impressive vehicle of some size even in 1/35

Cheers
