Hi all
Well, herewith my Sd. Kfz. 124, Wespe. I have always liked SP ARTY. Some comments and a couple of questions.
The kit is Tamiya, 1:35. Additional goodies are Modelkasten tracks (which I like, even though it is somewhat tedious to assemble 2 x 101 track links... after cleaning each link...

), Aber barrel (which is very good), Eduard PE set.
Following a visit to the Munster Panzer Museum in Germany with extensive photo coverage of their Sd. Kfz. 124, I scratch-built the little metal eyes on the superstructure for attaching camouflage nets, I suppose. I also tried to render the weld seams as seen on the Munster specimen... more seams than I would have thought, actually.
As you will appreciate, I have painted the model in several tempi. The fighting compartment is all but finished and just lacks installing the radio and antenna.
I will attempt a Normandy 1944 version, probably with the 12th SS HJ, but I need more investigation on that point. This particular vehicle will be rendered with the breech open and four rounds to go. Four propellant charges are visible in the open propellant storage.
Problem areas:
1. vision slits on left and right side of the driver's compartment. Tamiya has just indicated these but not penetrated... how to do??

I am contemplating simply leaning some equipment against the sides...
2. road wheels: how to make a mask so that the dark yellow isn't protruding into the very dark grey of the rubber (or vice versa). Tried cutting out paper masks but very difficult to get them exactly circular.
best regards
Jochen
