After I was done converting an Opel Blitz into a civilian truck, I wanted to begin a project that was in my mind for 3 years now. I wanted to build a technical using one of the available jeep kits in plastic. I acquired an AFV Club M-38A1 kit during a kit swap. It's one of my favorite vehicles in terms of looks, so I chose to use it for my project. Since these vehicles were produced in large numbers and went everywhere around the globe, I thought it would be a suitable kit for a technical.
This kit actually was made by Skybow (which no longer exists). The mold dates back to 1997, but the details are crisp and good. A detailed engine and suspension parts are also included. I thought of first super-detailing the engine, but then decided to close the hood and leave it as it is.
The assembled M-38A1. The kit also gives you a .50 cal Browning should you want to use it. I could see some technicals with these weapons especially in Somalia, but I opted to use a Russian machine gun instead. One of my friends was kind enough to send me a Dskh machine gun (I don't know if I wrote that correctly).
