Hi Everybody (god, I sound like Dr. Nick

)
About time I started on the second Tiger in my possession.
Rather than the Tamiya model, I am going for the AFV model.
After much searching for historical reference (lots of pics, little history) I hope I have hit on the right historical example to use. I intend to try and represent this vehicle as a Sturmtiger from the 116 Pz.Div. I found a rather obscure note about this Division having 8 Sturmtigers (found in 'Wehrmacht Panzer Divisions 1939-45' (Jorge Rosado & Chris Bishop)) which seems to fit with that units last action during the final stages of the war behind the Rhine-Herne canal (Ruhr Valley) and Sturmtigers being present in or around that area. I am more than happy to be proved wrong
Anyway, here is the vehicle ...
Along with the following AM products...
I'll also be applying my own Zim, using the following...
Right, to work!
Firstly, the bit I hate most, the wheels. All prepped, mounted and received their first coat...
Next, the Torsion bars, very simple to fit (you will note quite obvious mould lines, these will be totaly hidden, so minimum sanding done here)...
Now, time for some Zim. The LionRoar applicator comes with several wheels and stamps, representing various Zim patterns. After much searching through various literature I made my decision and applied initial zim to the front of the hull, firstly, the components...
The prepping of the surface...
And the result...
This is freshly applied, so will require some clean up, sanding and chipping tomorrow.
Initial thoughts? Good AND bad please
Many thanks
