Greetings everyone,
A while ago, at the end of October, we had the 2nd AFV Nationals in Turkey. Since this is a rather new competition and since I am a Turkish AFV modeler who is known for his "creative" ideas... well I decided to join with something rather unusual.
I had the idea for about two years now... especially after seeing a photo. First of all, I needed a kit that wouldn't be too much of a loss even if I made a total mess. Hence, I chose Tamiya's old T-34, not wanting to risk Dragon's newer and more expensive kits for my rather ambitious project.
This is an old kit with a little amount of parts (at least compared to newer kits). It went together rather easily.
The only issue I attended was the gap under the hull, above the tracks. This kit was initially designed as a motorized toy, so the hull was removable. If you don't cover these gaps, light shines through the hull and the tank looks funny. Or it's just me, I don't like gaps. A good way to cover them was to use some old plastic bridge cards, they get along nicely with Tamiya's ultra thin cement.
I didn't want to use any after-market on this kit... but I also couldn't resist changing the flimsy handles on the sides with thin copper wire. They are a bit crooked, but so are the handles on many of the photos I've seen.
Okay... up to here it's been a "normal" T-34, right? Now, let's spice things up! Before the painting stage... Yes, the color is Pink!
