Hi everyone,
I thought is was time to create my own vBench on planetArmor so here is my first post. I’m currently building a Hotchkiss H39 using the Bronco kit as a base.
Unfortunately the kit is not that good. Details are realy soft and a lot are missing. Also Bronco has replicated the build-up of the hull completely wrong. Therefore I decided to detail the kit a little.
At this moment the turret is completely finished. I used the early type gun from the Trumpeter kit with the brass barrel from Bronco. The cast structure is done with several layers Mr. Surfacer. I have replaced the commanders MG mount from the kit with one from brass tube and diffirent sizes of styrene discs made with a P&D tool.
On the hull I made 'sponson fillers' (like those for Tamiya Shermans) to replicate the flange construction of the hull. Like on the turret the hull also received different layers of Mr. Surfacer which were sanded before applying the next one.
The fenders are almost finished. They are are made from brass plate. Sizes where measured from the kits fenders and I filed away the curved outline of the upper hull. The mounting points for the fenders are solderd together from brass rod and brass tube and fixed to the fenders by a small brass plate. The front and back mudflaps are from the Eduard PE set and simply solderd to the brass fenders.
On the rear of the vehicle I have detailed one of the idler wheels and the idler wheel mounting points with bolts and screwheads.
Enough info for now, here are the pictures
Regards,
Erik
