Sculpting a 1/35th scale figure SBS

Hola one and all!

As some of you know Im not much of an armor modeller yet! But you also know that I've started to get into it more, its quite addictive!!! Since my background is in figures I thought I would share with you my latest project, sculpting a dead German in 1/35th scale.

Here are the very first steps. The resin torso and pelvis with the cut brass wire ready to go.

These pieces were then put together to form the basic armature or mannequin.

After the basic mannequin is completed it is time to pose the figure. The pose was taken from a picture of a dead German. I try to use pictures as often as I can as this will ensure a realistic pose, sometimes I've even dressed up in appropriate clothing and had my wife take pictures of me in various poses to decide how to sculpt a figure, now this can get quite interesting sometimes!

Now the empty areas were filled in with Aves Apoxie Sculpt. I usually use Magic Sculpt for the clothing etc, but I like to use Aves for the mannequins as it is very soft and sticks easily to the wire. The goal in this step is to just rough in the anatomy, leaving enough material so that a more refined mannequin can be carved out once the putty is cured.

Here is the mannequin pretty much ready to be clothed. This was done carving with a new scalpel blade and by using a sanding stick. Some areas may need some retouching here and there but nothing major. The key here is to have the main joints and limbs inthe correct position and correct lengths. This is the time to redo something if something it off as once the clothing is started, it is very hard to correct anatomical issues.

I will show more as more gets done!
