Piano hinges from scratch? For fenders

Piano hinges from scratch? For fenders

I am building new front and rear fenders for a Panzer III from brass shim stock. I am doing this so that I can show some dents and dings. I am not sure how to replace the piano hinges that are molded into the kit parts. Any Ideas?
