This is one of those kits that I purchased years ago (summer of 2007 in this case), dabbled with, and put back in the box. Its a really nice kit, but I felt lazy about the tracks.
Over the course of the previous week I finally came around to building them up. Ninety-four links per side, about half of them needing a good cleanup. As you can see, I still have some flash to remove here and there.
I'm going to try something different this time. I've been spending a lot of time around tracked back-hoes the last few weeks, and have taken many pictures of their lower parts (much to the chagrin of their operators

). I'll see if I could replicate what I saw. It will take some experimentation, but I'll document it along the way.
Also put on the tool straps. They PE parts in this kit are pretty thick and need to be annealed, or they won't twist. Hence the blackened appearance.
