I've come upon what I feel is a relatively simple winter whitewash technique and would like to share it with you all in the following SBS
The kit is Trumpeter's KV-1 1942 cast turret model. A pretty good model, but some of the components were too fragile to survive my clumsy hands.
But without further ado.
STEP 1.
Basecoat: For Soviet armor use any old green you have a surplus of. In this case Tamiya's XF-61 Dark Green. Don't loose any sleep over an imperfect finish at this stage. Just make sure the corners and depths are well covered.
In this instance the model will have some exposed basecoat areas, so these were sprayed with an irregular pattern of XF-61 lightened with XF-2 (white).
If you're following along then grab some poster putty and stay tuned for step 2 coming later today.
