Hello,
as a preparation for my 2nd scratch built Maus, I'm first drawing the complete vehicle in the computer this time.
My first Maus was built from the plans in Waldemar Trojca's book "Deutsche geheime Panzerprojekte", but they have a lot of wrong details as I know now. For references, I'm using now:
-a few original drawings
-reconstructed plans made by the Russians (in the book "Panzerkampfwagen Maus" by Igor Sheltow und Juri Pasholok from Tactical Press)
-the Panzer Tracts issue
-the Spielberger book about special vehicles of the German army
-the above mentioned Trojca book
-a lot of pictures and drawings found on the web (thanks to stora22, who pointed me to some good ressources)
This is my first model drawn with Rhino, so I'm still learning the program while working. Until now, I have only 2D-CAD experience.
So here is what I have until now:
The hull's basic shape is finished:
Every armor plate is a separate part:
(note that the edges are not yet beveled)
And the road wheel is drawn, too (still without the holes in Maus V2's second set of wheels):
I'm trying to draw as accurately as the references allow, so work is going slowly.
