This time I decided to do something DIFFICULT and serious, so I got this great model which I'm finding always funnier to build!
It's the first time I approach PE in a large amount and extensive use, and it will be a great test for more complicated things and my next project, the Spae.Pz. 2 Luchs by Revell, bought in Berlin this summer as a souvenir, which will be enriched by a nice Eduard PE set, which I couldn't find in Rome, so I got it for a relatively cheap price at Hannants.
I'm building the Pz. IV model OOB, but I hope I'll be able to get a PE grill in order to build the left radiator compartment (thanks to Sturmmann who sent me great photos!).
There are some noticeable features in this kit, which has been updated since its release in 2004: for example, the lower hull is different from the original one, and has the driving sprocket in the correct position (2 millimeters higher, the same as the hull belonging to the Ausf. D); the driving wheels have a different attach, revealing the detail underneath the wheel itself. Today I dealt with the tool clasps and other small pieces for the first time and it's been quite difficult for some things (IE the turret bin locks, which are quite difficult to build due to their SMALL dimensions... I made one, but I still have to decide whether I'll use them or leave the plastic ones), and easier for other ones. I also have to decide whether or not I will use the TINY pieces which represent the lock for some of the clasps.
Now I am at 1/3 of the total project, painting excluded, and I think I'll be able to make other clasps tomorrow afternoon (I just have the time to work on this project in the weekends due to university engagements).
As for the photos, I'm loading my trusty Sony camera's batteries, which have to be replaced and don't work well.
So stay tuned, I'll post something later!
