Hello all,
I started on the DML 251 C 3 in 1 kit this weekend, I opted for a /7 and think it will be with the 21.PD in Africa.
Starting with the common directions I wanted to make the suspension functional to fit the future ground work so all of the locator holes were drilled out except tubes the width of the frame as a basis for the torsion bars.
The locator pins were removed from the road arms and then they were drilled to recieve "torsion bars". A peice of brass tube was fitted over the road arm pin tightly and an appropriate drill was used to fit snug inside the brass tube, this allowed an exact center to be obtained on the road arm, after which the correct size bit was used to match my selected torsion bar size.
Once the bars were installed on the road arms Tamiya tape was used to snug up the fit with the tubes. holes were drilled in the blank end of the tube and CA glue was used to secure the torsion bars in place, leaving the tape and brass to act together to gine the suspension movement.
