Ok
THIS is the blog on building Tiger number
123 sPzAbt.503.
I'm using up one of the DML "initial" kits [6252] that I have and I'm adding bits from where ever I need to [ABER, Tamiya, etc.] build this tank.
I know that this is an out of production kit so it is not something that can be undertaken by others if you don’t have one [sorry about that mates

].
The tank I've decided to use for the up-date is the 123 because it has most of features that the pre-Tamiya early does not, so I’ll get something out of the DML kit. I've never built the Tamiya
Nordafrika kit but it should be basically the same. You should be able to up-date it like the 712 Tiger [sPzAbt.501] captured and sent to the USA [because this is hull number 250031].
The hull is just before Tiger 712. I know that the features in the photos make it one of the 4 delivered to the 503 in late November 1942. Hulls 250028 and 250031 were given to the 501 and the photos show that it is 250029 or 250030. As with everything German WWII, nothing is a fact [but this is very close].
The first thing is a few things to list about 123 and then see what needs to be deleted-added from-to the kit
1/ The guards are kinked halfway along. [re. David Byrden]
2/ Track cable on the left-hand side of the hull. [re. David Byrden]
3/ Remove the antenna base off the rear of the hull. [re. David Byrden]
4/ The 8 bolt lugs welded to the rear of the hull for the "Feifel" vortex pre-filters [re. David Byrden]
5/ The new fold up front and rear guards. [DW to Tiger I]
6/ Tool lay out as with Tiger 712 [except for the tool clamps on the bow]. [DW to Tiger I]
7/ The PzKfw.III turret bin sitting up higher than the DML instruction. [Bundesarchiv photo]
8/ The MP port on the loader’s side of the turret needs the port to be facing backwards other than the very first batch. [DML and DW to Tiger I are both wrong]
Please feel free to add things or correct my misunderstandings
