Panzer for painting practice.

I'm posting a temporary thread here in the Axis forum until my vBench posting permissions come through.

I wanted to focus primarily on painting, so I built straight out of the box (except for filling the various holes and voids to make the hull light proof).

I had some trouble with the wash. I just couldn't get the smooth, subtle gradation I wanted. It turned out great on flat surfaces, but lousy next to any raised detail. I'm guessing that my mistakes were making it too dark and trying to do too much in a couple of coats. The drybrushing turned out a bit heavy handed as well, but I know how to fix that.

As you can see, I really struggled with painting wood grain. It looks acceptable to the naked eye, but these closeup photos make me shudder.

What can I do to improve my painting and weathering on this one? Thanks!
