Dragon Pz IV H (kit # 6300)

Hi guys.
In spite of the gazillion kits that wait on my bench to be finished I had to start this one as soon as I received it.
I decided to use the brand new ATAK kit. It is beautiful.

I spent quite some time researching for this one and eventually decided to build tank #624 from 3rd Pz Div as seen in July 44.
It is a bit compliocated to go through the options offered by Dragon but here are a few thoughts.
- You do not want to use parts A-34 and A-35 for idler wheels as they are of an earlyer production time and each one among the decorations Dragon offers has the later type.
-Most of them seem to have the H-13 H-26 towing pintle but the other type seems quite common too.
- Only "802" has, without any single doubt, the close defense weapon (covered) on the turret roof so I decided to go without as my "624" has got to be a December early January production tank.
- The auxilliary muffler (B28-B29) needs to be reworked with thin metal stripes (not done yet) as the brackets you get in the kit are much too thick.
- The muzzle brake is more of an enigma. I take it the R5-R2 type is for later tanks. On one pic of "624" the muzzle brake looks more like the R6-R2 type but the other types (R8 and R7) seem to be seen quite often too.

So here I go. The turret is almost finished. I thinned down the Schürzen brackets so I had to replace the bolts. The ATAK parts for the hull and glacis will need some sanding and adjustment.

Any comment is most welcome. I always forget things ...
