After my odyssey without Internet and a massive crunch time in my company I feel like a need a quick build to get back to business.
Dragons new Pz. II Ausf. F is perfect for me. I always loved small tanks, specially the Panzer II family.
At the moment I’m thinking about doing a winter LAH Khrakov vehicle or a dark grey/yellow Stalingrad vehicle from the 22.Pz. Div.
Marco did a great job showing us his sprue shots and first construction steps, after seeing his shots and Rick’s fast progressing Pz. III I knew I had to start with this little baby.
There are some issues with the spring and bell crank section of the running gear.
I don’t want to go crazy with this build, so I just reworked the crank to the one piece style used for Pz. II.
I had the same fit issues like Marco with front armor. See here :

He fixed it with additional plastic card, I used some sanding and filling to solve this problem.
Snow or Mud will cover the problem areas also.
Here you can see the installed running gear, some putty from the fix mentioned above is still visible.
And here cleaned up:
Because I hate doing tracks, especially plastic ones I will do them now. Sadly my hole bag for the left run has big holes in every link:
After seeing this I was very close to order some friuls, but I stopped my order, sat back on my desk and started to put the tracks together.
Like I said, I’m going for a winter/mud vehicle. The elements will cover the rest.
At the moment I’m finishing the tracks, then I will move on with the interior.
Somehow I love this kit, somehow not. You start this brand new modern kit and during the first construction steps you have to deal with big fit issue and incorrect parts. On the other hand I love this kit and the breakdown of the interior parts seems to be very clever for the painting process.
I think this is just because the advertising of all the new kits makes massive use of terms like accuracy, researched, unbelievable details and so on. Nowadays I have very high expectations to this new kits and I feel even more uncomfortable when they don’t reach them.
As you see I’m torn between this issues, but maybe this is just the luxury of being an armor modeller nowadays
Happy modelling
Cheers
