Gents and the occasional lady
Herewith my go at Dragon's Sd. Kfz. 251/17 Schwebelafette: I like the 251 and in particular some of the more exotic variants - in my book this is exotic..
I followed with interest Instrutorrob's thread on this vehicle in late 2009 and can confirm Robert's observation that there are fit issues with the kit (however, the wooden benches actually should be fitted according to the instructions, but the latter are tricky...
).
The kit has been supplemented with Eduard PE, Aber 20 mm barrel and Fruil tracks (which is first time: I normally prefer Modelkasten).
As I am not the most prolific builder (which is why friends question the 20-odd 1:35 kits bought on sale and now awaiting assembly..
) because of job and all, I started this kit some weeks ago and found the present status ideal to share:
Interior and gun assembled, spray-primed with Vallejo black (air) and sprayed with coats of well-diluted Vallejo 914 (which is my choice as German dark yellow) using my Badger 175. I also scratchbuilt the antenna cable to be connected to the radio set (which I now - thanks to Tim's very useful previous comments on a Wespe-build - know the colouring of...
).
Painting + wear and tear of the interior to follow.
I am wondering if any would have a hint on the following two issues:
- spent cartridge deflector
- travel lock and travel lock plate fitted to superstructure.
Have seen these in rather bad photos and lack guidance on positioning, measurement etc.
