Hi everybody,
A model I started on some time ago -- Tamiya's Matilda Mk.III.
A wonderful little thing it is, a pure pleasure to assemble. I made it out of the box, with the small change of putting an RB 2pdr barrel instead of the plastic one (the plastic one seems a tad too big, more like 50-mm rather than 40-mm).
I'll add a metal antenna as well, but that's as far as I'd go with the major changes on this one.
I chose, quite naturally I think, the Caunter scheme -- one of the most remarkable cammo schemes ever in my opinion. Was a total pain in the a$% to mask, but was well worth it
Tamiya have done a great job with the crew, well detailed and very expressive faces and poses. The extra figures are from Miniart's Valentine Mk.III kit, snatched them to support the Mk.III. I'll attach here and there a few smaller things -- a bag here, backpack there, but we'll see
So, here are some pictures:
"Naked model phase"
And first paint pass (did I say the masking was a b!^&*

?)
Then, a small test with Pz.Abt.502 oils -- how it will feel with the model:
And then, encouraged by the results, I went full throttle with the oils and washes -- the oils I mentioned, the washes are MIG's (and I used a bit of AK's filters as well on the role). In about 24 hours, I'll do a gentle cleaning up -- the oils and washes are too fresh now:
And finally, I made a bit of a test with sand yellow pigments to see how will it continue at the later stages -- I think so far, so good. You'll see the impact of the pigments on the armored board/track protecting cover, on its front lower part. The end result is very close to what the very few Caunter scheme color photos from the Desert which i've managed to find show.
And that's it for now folks, thank you very much indeed for having the patience
Have a nice day,
Drone
