Hi guys
Today I would like to start a new thread with my new project, a Russian captured Pz IV E. The basiic model comes from the DML Vorpanzer kit but I'm building a standard Ausf E. Frankly speaking I don't know if there were any soviet Ausf Es but I wanted to paint something different so a green panzer it will be. The build is a rather OOtB one, the only aftermarket parts are tool holders from Lion Roar, turned aerial from RB model, a scratchbuild damaged muffler made of aluminium sheet. I'm going to sculpt the crew as well. The fenders were treated with a sharp blade to give them a damaged look.
The model:
The first stage was to cover it all with a layer of flat black primer (I use a acrycli car primer, very effective and relatively cheap):
Next I applied a cote of tamiya flat green thinned with gunze's leveling thinner:
After doing all this I started the modulation using flat green and yellow green:
The details were painted with Vallejo paints:
And the turret ready for further work:
I painted the inner sides of the hatches with tamiya's light gray (these weren't probably repainted by the Russians and moreover this is a good color addition to the model):
I worked also on the tracks and sprockets, idlers:
The wheels were airbrushed with flat green, as well as the tracks with Panzer Aces Tracks Primer, the tracks around the sprockets and idlers were painted using a brush. The details were finished with Vallejo paints.
That's it for today.
Thanks for looking.
Radek
