Due to work and my own personal attempt to step back from the hobby a bit, I have not been around here much. I apologize for that. I thought that I would start another small blog of one I have about half painted. I still have a lot to do but wanted to post some pics of where I am on it now. I still need to detail the tools, rust tones on the spare track, add the stowage then weather the thing.
This model was influenced by some photos from the Concord book entitled, "4. Panzer-Division on the Eastern Front (2) 1944" by Robert Michulee. This PZ IV is the second tank from the front in a photo on page 30 which is also on the cover. The idea for the damaged angled hull skirts was taken from a different PZ IV on page 42. The various rust effects and scratches were copied from a photo on page 110 in the Ground Power Book no. 6 published in 1999.
I painted this one again with colour modulation using dark tones in the recessed areas for contrast while using lighter tones to draw attention to the upper parts. This one is going to be very weathered. In the past I have made the error of being too subtle with the chipping and not having this important effect visible thru the earth tones. I hope to fix that a bit on this one.
Please let me know your thoughts, recommendations or questions if you have a moment.
The hot Latino summer is finally here in Spain. It must be around 30-something out there. Think Ill skip out back into the hammock and have a beer. No more models for me today.
Sincerely
