Well, this is my first seriosly project since I reentered the hobby following a break of 20 years.
To start of with a picture of my humble workstation.
And next one of the trumpeters box and all the AM stuff I got for this build.
When I first started on this kit some time ago, I got somewhat discouraged due to the complexity of the voyager PE set. Especially the fender-hinges gave me big time troubles.
As can be seen from the following picture the hinge-parts are the interleaveing type, and has to be attached to the fenders.
This proved to be an unmanageable task (at least to me) and I ended up ruining 3 out the 4 hinges.
Then I got hold of the fender set from PART, and they have choosen another approach, which makes the hinges much easier to assemble. The hinges and fender is in one piece, and only needs to be bended around the wire.
Repeating the same procedure for the frontscreen and insertion of the wire results in a actually working hinge.
Then yesterday the long awaited Etch mate arrived...
...and finally I could get the fenders finished.
Furthermore I managed to break the resin gun manlet from the Armorscale set. I tried to glue it back together but I'm not quite satisfied with the result, as some crevices are still visible.
Besides that I have been working on some of the interior. Among this the wooden deck, which initially was given a coat of vallejo german grey. Next the wooden dech was painted with vallejo buff.
Next the wooden deck was painted with some ink (burnt sienna) using a stiff-haired brush in order to simulate the texture of the wood.
To simulate tear and wear the planks was lighty sanded with some steelwhool, and then drybrushed with vallejo natural wood. Next the areas supposed to have recieved the least tear and wear was painted in german grey.
I've started painting the friul-tracks, but they need some further attention.
Finally I've finished the gun and have given it a coat of basecolor.
All comments are welcome.
That's all for now, I hope to be able to post further progress soon.
