Well, a new dio is on its way.
This time I'll be doing a scene from Op. Barbarossa in 1941.
The thing is that I'll be doing it in 1/48. I had such great fun during the Tiger-build (pictures will appear soon), so I thought that I would continue in this scale.
It'll be nothing particular, just a simple scene with a Steyr 1500 and a knocked out T 34. The scene takes place somewhere on the northern front, as the Germans advance towards Leningrad.
A little heads up on that I don't intend to be 100% accurate when building these kits. I want to concentrate on having fun and skip some of the usual demands. I also want to focus my energy on some new techniques that I haven't tried yet.
Let's go !
The Steyr is ready for painting, but since it's broken into sub-parts, some details will be added after the primer and base-colour. It's the Tamiya kit with PE from Hauler and a resin add on from Black Dog. The yellow straps are Tamiya masking tape. I haven't used all PE as I didn't found it necessary. The Tamiya kit have excellent details and was a joy to build.
I recieved the T34 package a couple of days ago and wasting no time I started out immediately. It's the T34/76 -41 from Tamiya with interior from Verlinden and PE from Hauler.
The T34 will be knocked out, so some major work has to be done.
View of Tamiya's T34 upper hull, which is about to undergo some serious cutting.
This is what Verlinden's lower hull replacement looks like. So far no problemo.
Dremel cutting done to prepare the hull for the engine interior. Base for MG-cupola also removed.
Front and rear fenders removed to make room for the PE fenders from Hauler.
This is what it looks like when dry-fitted.
I hope you like it so far and thanks for looking.
